Transition to Teaching Online (TTT) is the first all-online single-subject credential program in California. Modeled after Cal State Teach all-online curriculum for multi-subject teachers, the TTT online spiral curriculum uses modules that reintroduced and builds on topics to enhance learning, rather than traditional disconnected courses. The TTT Online curriculum is also well-integrated with fieldwork conducted in regional lab schools that meet on Saturdays with students at varying proficiency levels.
TTT participants work in instructional teams with experts and novice teachers to apply theory from coursework to teach lessons, assess, reflect, modify and re-teach. This accelerated one-year credential program reflects experts’ recommendations that teacher preparation programs include more field experiences. Partnered with Tulare County Office of Education, Central Union High in El Centro and Heber Elementary (K-8) in Heber, the online curriculum and regional lab schools means program can supply high-need schools in rural areas with highly qualified teachers, with the potential for statewide replication.
