The Women in STEM Education (WiSE) program was established by the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE) at California State University, Dominguez Hills. It is designed to inspire future generations of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), by providing them with the necessary tools to retain their interest such as field trips to STEM-related organizations, STEM professionals, and role models to guide them.
There is a significant disparity between the number of women and men in STEM careers. Women comprise 47% of the United States workforce, but 28% of STEM jobs. We want to change these statistics and increase the number of women who go into STEM careers.
Our mission is to increase the number of women in STEM-related fields by inspiring them through mentorships, leadership opportunities, field trips and activities that expose them to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
As part of CISE, our program is designed to target female students in middle school, high school, community college and CSU Dominguez Hills.
